Ecuadorian midfielder M. Caicedo has recently opened up about his decision to join Chelsea, citing a long-term dialogue and support from the club as key reasons for his choice. Despite interest from Liverpool, Caicedo felt compelled to sign with the London-based team.
Chelsea’s Support Influences Caicedo’s Decision
Caicedo, who now dons the Chelsea blue in the Premier League, explained that his interactions with Chelsea had been ongoing for a considerable period. The club’s consistent support played a significant role in his decision-making process. “It was impossible to say not to Chelsea, because they were with me supporting me,” Caicedo stated in an interview with Sky Sports.
The midfielder also acknowledged that Liverpool had reached out to him, but their approach came too late. Caicedo had already set his sights on playing for Chelsea, a club that had shown a vested interest in his career. “Liverpool called me but it was too late because I wanted to play for Chelsea,” he told Sky Sports.
Caicedo’s move to Chelsea adds to the club’s midfield options, as the Ecuadorian international looks to make his mark in one of the world’s most competitive leagues.
