Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear that veteran defender Thiago Silva is subject to the same assessment and selection criteria as the rest of the team. Pochettino emphasized that no player, including Silva, receives preferential treatment when it comes to making decisions for the squad.
Pochettino’s Stance on Squad Selection
Pochettino stated, “All the players are in the same position as him,” referring to Silva. He continued to explain the process, saying, “We always assess and then we take the decision. He is not different from the others.” The Chelsea boss also mentioned that he does not consider a player’s nationality or age in his evaluations, asserting, “I don’t look at the passport or the age of the player.”
Thiago Silva, who plays as a defender for Chelsea, is a Brazilian national and competes in the Premier League. Despite his veteran status, Pochettino’s comments suggest that Silva’s experience and background do not exempt him from the standard procedures and scrutiny applied to all members of the Chelsea squad.
