Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, has addressed recent rumours regarding Leon Goretzka’s potential departure in the upcoming January transfer window. Freund stated, “That’s not our topic at the moment. Leon is training well and giving everything.” He further added, “He’s there when he’s needed. You never know what will happen and how things will develop in 3-4 months. We’ll see,” according to BILD.
Goretzka, a 29-year-old midfielder, has been a key player for Bayern Munich since joining from Schalke 04 in 2018. Known for his versatility and physical presence on the pitch, Goretzka has been a consistent performer for the Bundesliga champions. Despite ongoing speculation about his future, Goretzka confirmed his commitment to his current contract, which runs until 2026, earlier this year.
The latest comments from Freund come amidst a backdrop of ongoing discussions about Goretzka’s role and future at the club. In March, Bayern’s management had already addressed similar speculations, emphasising the importance of the midfielder to the team’s plans.
As the January transfer window approaches, the situation remains fluid, with Bayern Munich keeping their options open regarding potential developments in the coming months.
