David Hancko has refuted claims that he was swayed by a lucrative offer from Atlético Madrid. The 26-year-old Slovakian defender, currently playing for Feyenoord, expressed his dissatisfaction with media reports suggesting his interest in the Spanish club was financially motivated.
Hancko’s Statement
In a recent statement, Hancko clarified his position: “Atlético Madrid? I didn’t like how the media said my head was turned because of the salary Atleti would have offered… that’s not true”. He emphasised that his current contract with Feyenoord is already satisfactory and that his decisions are not driven by financial incentives.
Current Situation
Hancko, who has been with Feyenoord since 2022, highlighted his commitment to the Dutch club. He acknowledged Feyenoord’s stance in the matter, stating, “I already have a great contract here. For me, it’s not about the money. I definitely understand that Feyenoord is demanding”.
The defender’s comments come amidst ongoing speculation about his future, with various media outlets linking him to a potential move to Atlético Madrid.
