Football Club Barcelona
The Barcelona Football Club, officially known as Futbol Club Barcelona and often shortened to Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The club was founded on 29 November 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Catalan footballers, and has since become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, with the motto “Més que un club” (More than a club).
Stadium
Barcelona’s home stadium, Camp Nou, is the largest football arena in Europe and the third largest in the world, with a capacity of over 99,000 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 1957 and has since been home to Barcelona. Camp Nou has hosted several major international matches, including UEFA Champions League finals and World Cup football matches.
Legendary Coaches and Players
Barcelona has had a number of prominent coaches and players over the years. Among the most notable coaches are Rinus Michels, who introduced “Total Football” in the 1970s, and Johan Cruyff, who led the club to its first UEFA Champions League title in 1992. Cruyff also introduced the “tiki-taka” style of play, which has become synonymous with Barcelona.
Among the most notable players are Lionel Messi, who is considered one of the best players of all time, and Xavi and Andrés Iniesta, who were central to Barcelona’s successes in the 2000s.

Barcelona has had great success in the UEFA Champions League, with five titles (1992, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2015). The club’s most memorable moments in the tournament include their 2-1 victory over Sampdoria in the 1992 final, their dramatic comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 in 2017, and their 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the 2011 final.
