Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has announced that the club will not participate in the upcoming FIFA World Club tournament. In a statement to Il Giornale, Ancelotti highlighted the financial disagreement as the primary reason for this decision. He pointed out that the financial compensation offered for the entire tournament equates to what the club would earn from just one match, approximately €20 million, deeming the offer unacceptable.
“Just one single Real Madrid match is worth €20m and they want to give us that money for the whole competition… no way. Negative,” Ancelotti told Il Giornale.
Context to Ancelotti’s Decision
This decision comes amidst a period of significant achievements for Ancelotti at Real Madrid. Recently, he set a record with his fifth Champions League win and has been vocal about his strategic decisions for the team, including confirming key players like Courtois as starters for crucial matches. Ancelotti has also expressed his commitment to ending his career at Real Madrid, further solidifying his deep involvement and long-term planning for the club’s future on and off the field.
