Arsenal Football Club is poised to cancel the contract of goalkeeper Alex Runarsson immediately, which will also end his loan spell at Cardiff City. The Icelandic shot-stopper is on the verge of signing with Danish side FC Copenhagen, with negotiations nearing completion.
Deal with Copenhagen Close
According to information from @danielnojsen, Runarsson is expected to make the move to Copenhagen soon. The deal has been described as ‘almost agreed’, indicating that the transfer is in its final stages.
Runarsson joined Arsenal from French club Dijon in 2020 but has struggled to secure a regular first-team spot. His loan to Cardiff City was intended to provide him with more game time, but this arrangement will be cut short as part of the termination agreement with Arsenal.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper will now look to rejuvenate his career in the Danish Superliga with FC Copenhagen, as he leaves the Premier League behind.
