Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has confirmed that the club will engage in discussions with Arsenal regarding the potential transfer of midfielder Mikel Merino. Aperribay stated, “We will talk to Arsenal and defend the interests of Real Sociedad.”
Aperribay further elaborated on the club’s stance, indicating that they are open to negotiations. “When we consider that the offer is good, we will say yes,” he added.
The decision to exclude Merino from the squad was influenced by the player’s own wishes. “We know what Merino’s wishes are, so we decided not to call him up,” Aperribay explained.
Merino, a 27-year-old midfielder, has been a key player for Real Sociedad since joining from Newcastle United in 2018. Known for his versatility and strong presence in the midfield, Merino’s potential move to Arsenal could significantly impact both clubs.
