Maurizio Sarri, the former Chelsea manager, has expressed regret over his decision to leave the club, describing it as his “biggest mistake.” In a recent interview with Sky, Sarri reflected on his tenure at Chelsea where he led the team to victory in the Europa League.
Sarri’s Reflections on Chelsea
“Leaving Chelsea has been my biggest mistake,” Sarri admitted during the interview. He elaborated on the potential he saw at the club during his time there, stating, “There was a good basis to stay there and continue at the club, I did a big mistake in that moment.” Sarri’s departure from Chelsea was influenced by his desire to return to Italy, a decision he now seems to regret.
Despite the success, including clinching the Europa League title, Sarri felt a strong pull towards Italy which ultimately led to his departure. He described the project at Chelsea as “great” but lamented his decision to leave what he considered a promising position at the club.
