Wieffer, a 24-year-old midfielder, recently completed a transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of €30 million. The Dutch player, known for his versatility and strong defensive skills, had been a key figure at Feyenoord before making the switch to the Premier League.
Slot added, “I really enjoy meeting him, but I hope he doesn’t want to prove too much to his old trainer!” This comment reflects the mutual respect between the former manager and player, despite their professional paths diverging.
Wieffer’s move to Brighton was finalised on 5 July 2024, marking a significant step in his career as he joins the English top flight.
