Manchester United’s new signing, Matthijs de Ligt, has clarified that his decision to join the club was not solely influenced by manager Erik ten Hag. Speaking to @vandaaginside, the 24-year-old centre-back emphasised the club’s global stature as a significant factor in his move.
“We are talking about Manchester United here, one of the biggest clubs in the world,” De Ligt stated. He acknowledged the high expectations from fans, adding, “There is a lot of pressure because the fans are used to things from the past, up to us!”
De Ligt, who previously played for Juventus and Ajax, is known for his strong defensive skills and leadership on the pitch. His arrival at Old Trafford is expected to bolster the team’s defensive line.
