Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reiterated the importance of hard work and performance in training for winger Antony. Speaking about the Brazilian’s recent form, ten Hag stated, “Every player should give those reactions, same as he had on Tuesday night.”
The manager stressed the necessity for players to earn their place in the team through consistent effort and seizing opportunities when they arise. “You have to train hard, you have to perform in training, you have to earn the right to play, and when the moment is your chance, you have to take them,” he added.
This follows a series of comments from ten Hag regarding Antony’s need to prove himself. On 17 September, ten Hag mentioned that Antony must demonstrate his capabilities during training sessions. Additionally, on 16 September, the manager urged the 23-year-old to rebound and make a significant impact at Manchester United.
Antony, who joined Manchester United from Ajax, has faced scrutiny over his limited appearances and performance levels. The winger’s style of play, characterised by his pace and dribbling skills, has yet to consistently translate into impactful performances for the team.
Ten Hag’s comments highlight the ongoing expectations for Antony to step up and secure his position within the squad through dedication and performance.
