Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has openly confirmed his previous interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. In a recent interview with Sky, Ten Hag expressed his admiration for Kane’s proven goal-scoring abilities, highlighting the striker’s capacity to consistently deliver around 30 goals per season. “Yes, you know Kane will get you 30 goals. He’s a striker who already proved it, who we wanted to sign and we couldn’t get him,” Ten Hag stated.

Following the unsuccessful pursuit of Kane, Manchester United shifted their focus to Rasmus Højlund, a promising young talent. Ten Hag acknowledged that while Højlund has significant potential, he requires time to reach the goal-scoring heights expected at Manchester United. “So we went for Højlund. He’s a big talent. Rasmus will get there [30 goals], but he needs time,” Ten Hag told Sky.

This revelation comes amidst a series of statements by Ten Hag regarding the future strategy and performance improvements at Manchester United. Recent reports indicate that Ten Hag is actively planning squad enhancements in the upcoming transfer window and has been discussing the club’s prospects in the Europa League. Additionally, he has addressed rumours about a major squad overhaul and praised the performance of players like Jadon Sancho, underscoring his commitment to strengthening the team’s competitive edge.
