Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his frustration over recent speculation by pundits regarding Marcus Rashford’s absence from the starting lineup. Ten Hag clarified that the decision to bench Rashford was purely a matter of squad rotation and not due to any off-field issues.
“I have heard already this speculation from some pundits. It’s crazy!” Ten Hag stated. “I’d say, as a person you’re not ok when you bring such speculation. This is just rotation! I’m very happy with Marcus.”
The comments come after Ten Hag had previously explained his decision to bench Rashford, emphasising that it was a tactical choice aimed at managing the player’s workload. Rashford, who has been praised for his resilience and early-season scoring form, remains a key figure in Ten Hag’s plans.
The manager’s remarks follow a series of statements where he has commended Rashford’s performance and resilience, further underlining that the forward’s temporary omission from the starting eleven is not a cause for concern.
