AC Milan’s technical director Paolo Maldini has expressed regret over the sale of Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali to Premier League side Newcastle United. Maldini, a club legend, admitted that if it were up to him, he would have made every effort to retain the player at the Serie A club.
Maldini revealed that acquiring Tonali from Brescia was not a straightforward decision within the club. He had to contend with opposition from both the CEO and the owners, as well as skepticism from the scouting department. Despite these challenges, Milan managed to sign the player for a fee that was a fraction of his eventual sale value.
Sandro Tonali, who now plies his trade at Newcastle United, is known for his midfield prowess and is an Italian international. His move to the Premier League signifies a significant transfer for both Newcastle and the player himself.
