AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has voiced concerns over the current board’s understanding and respect for the club’s identity. In a candid interview with Repubblica, Maldini highlighted the presence of individuals within the club’s hierarchy who he believes lack a fundamental grasp of what AC Milan represents.
Maldini’s Disappointment with Club Leadership
Maldini, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders in football history and has a deep-rooted connection with AC Milan, expressed his disappointment with certain attitudes observed within the club’s new board. He pointed out that while President Paolo Scaroni was seen celebrating the team’s recent Scudetto victory, there have been instances where Scaroni left the stadium early during less successful matches.
This behaviour, according to Maldini, is indicative of a broader issue where some members of the board do not fully appreciate the club’s storied history and the importance of standing by the team through both triumphs and tribulations. Maldini’s plea to “respect Milan history” underscores his desire for the club’s leadership to embody the values and spirit that have long been associated with AC Milan.
The club has not issued a response to Maldini’s comments at the time of reporting.
