Veteran defender Mats Hummels has finalised his move to AS Roma, according to Fabrizio Romano. The German centre-back is en route to Italy for medical examinations, with his flight confirmed earlier today.
Hummels, 35, has agreed to a contract with the Serie A club that will see him earn approximately €2 million annually, plus additional performance-based incentives. The contract is set to run until June 2025.
The move follows Hummels’ departure from Borussia Dortmund, where he became a free agent in June 2024. His exit from the Bundesliga club was confirmed in mid-June, ending his second stint with Dortmund.
Hummels, known for his strong defensive skills and leadership on the pitch, will bring a wealth of experience to Roma’s backline. His career includes notable spells at Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, where he was instrumental in their domestic and international successes.
