Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that players currently training separately from the main squad, including Raheem Sterling and Trevoh Chalobah, will not feature in any matches if they remain at the club.
Maresca stated, “All the players who in this moment are training apart will NOT get any minutes in case they stay,” as reported via @kierangill_DM. He added that this policy applies to all such players, not just Sterling.
When asked specifically about Sterling, Maresca mentioned, “My advice to Sterling? He knows exactly what he has to do.”
This announcement follows a series of developments regarding Sterling’s future. On 23 August, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta denied any interest in signing Sterling. The same day, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that Sterling would not be returning to the club. Earlier, on 21 August, it was reported that Sterling was set to leave Chelsea, and he was also excluded from Leicester City’s plans.
Sterling, a 29-year-old winger, has had a notable career with previous stints at Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea. Known for his pace and dribbling skills, his future remains uncertain as the transfer window approaches its end.
